Today both Ryan and I had the great privilege of going on a fieldtrip with Carson's first grade class. Carson was so excited that Ryan got to go too. We went to Red Butte Gardens and Sugarhouse Park. One of the classes was short a parent volunteer so Ryan and I, together, were in charge of a group of 14 rambunctious 7 year olds. We really did have a great time. It of course rained on us so that made things just a little more tricky, the trails were muddy and the rocks were slick but it also made everything that much more beautiful. I was amazed at the awesome trails that the Garden has. We went half way up the mountain and back down. There are fun things for the kids to play on and they had a great time.
Most of all, it reminded me just how well Ryan and I work together. Sometimes I got a bit nervous with 14 seven year olds on skinny trails and so many places for them to run off to. But we got through it and had a great time doing it.
I'm so glad that we can both be involved in everything Carson does. It's so cute to listen to 7 year old conversations and it brings back so many memories of how careless life, through a childs eyes, is. It makes you remember that the simple things in life should be what is cherished. I hope Carson can look back and have so many great memories.
We definitely want to go back so we can explore even further up the trails. Thanks Carson for letting us come and have a great day with you!
